Ticket sales for the 63rd edition of the March Music Days International Festival began on February 16. Festival-goers will be able to purchase tickets at the Opera box office every weekday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., as well as on-site at the lobby of Theater Hall before the concerts, subject to availability.
For the concerts on March 15, 17, 18, 20, 23, 24, 26, 28, 29 and 30, this is also possible through the Eventim online platform from February 15.
This year's edition of one of the biggest classical music festivals in Europe, which has become an emblem of the Danube city, offers the audience a variety of concerts and exciting meetings with famous artists from all over the world.
The festival program starts boldly with the performance of one of the greatest musical works of all time – the famous "Requiem" by Giuseppe Verdi, on the occasion of 150 years since its premiere in 1874 in Milan. Performers are the unique Ruse Festival Orchestra and the Ruse Festival Choir, conducted by the Ruse-born Bulgarian musician Emil Tabakov, and the soloists are the world-famous Bulgarian soprano Krassimira Stoyanova (also a graduate of the school in Ruse) and the talented young Bulgarian singers Violeta Radomirska, Milen Bozhkov and Deyan Vachkov .
Among the exclusive names on the artistic list of the festival are the Franco-Belgian String Quartet Danel, known for daring interpretations of Shostakovich, Weinberg, Beethoven, etc., the extraordinarily attractive Signum Saxophone Quartet, the brilliant trombone ensemble from Vienna - Trombon Attraction, as well as the exceptional trio of the concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic, Albena Danailova.
The famous Bulgarian violinist Svetlin Rusev will present two chamber programs with the world-famous Korean pianist Yeoul Eum Son and the soprano Krassimira Stoyanova, which will undoubtedly become part of the many peak festival events in 2024. The long-awaited world premiere of the ballet will also take place on the festival stage "Kaliopa" by the famous Bulgarian composer and conductor Emil Tabakov, based on the libretto by Alexander Malchev. The realization of the ballet is by the Ruse State Opera with the conductor, the author and staging by the world-famous choreographer Konstantin Uralsky.
The edition offers two more important world premieres for Bulgarian music this year - the works of the composers Vasil Kazandzhiev, Bozhidar Spasov and Konstantin Iliev are included in the concerts of the elite German trio "Abstrakt" and one of the best Bulgarian string quartets - String Quartet "Frosh" .
The two leading Bulgarian orchestras are expected with special festival programs - the Sofia Philharmonic with conductor Nayden Todorov and soloist the famous pianist Elena Bashikarova, as well as the Symphony Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio with conductor Georgi Dimitrov and soloist the young and exceptionally gifted Bulgarian pianist Emanuil Ivanov.
Special programs are offered by the Chamber Ensemble "Sofia Soloists", with soloists Mincho Minchev and Nikolay Minchev under the baton of Konstantin Dobroikov, as well as the special project of the famous Bulgarian jazz musicians Veselin Veselinov - Eko and Milen Kukosharov under the title DasWeltschmerZDuett - a real provocation for the jazz lovers.
On the final festival evening on March 31, the young and talented Georgian pianist Giorgi Gigashvili will make his strong artistic debut in Bulgaria in the program of the Ruse Philharmonic under the direction of Dimitar Kosev.
