Tonight, at 5:30 p.m., in Europe Hall, within the framework of the MF "March Music Days" 2024, the new book by Prof. Dr. Julian Kuyumdzhiev, dedicated to the Bulgarian pianist, composer, music pedagogue, architect and public figure Dimitar Nenov, will be presented.
For the purposes of the research, Kuyumdzhiev studied the student archives of the Technical University of Dresden, where Nenov studied, and the Scientific Archives of the BAS. It is driven by the desire to acquaint readers with the early creative path of the erudite. "An interesting fact is about the years of study, which were very difficult for him financially. He did not have many funds, he had to support himself. He played in the cinema, was a musical director in a ballet company, gave concerts, etc., but it took away from his time to study. So there are quite a few applications in this archive for postponement of examinations and not a few applications for postponement of payment. He was supposed to graduate in 1925 but graduated in 1927 precisely for these reasons."
An important highlight of the book are unknown architectural sketches from Nenov's student period. In Bulgaria there are several buildings built according to his architectural plans. It is an almost unknown fact that the house at the tram stop opposite Vishneva Street next to the Sofia Seminary was built according to his design. Several railway stations in the country were designed by him.
Part of the event will be a piano performance by Mihaela Mihailova, as well as the presentation of the exhibition dedicated to Nenov and organized by the Union of Architects in Bulgaria.
