For the first time in Ruse, and with a single concert in Bulgaria, the captivating Ara Malikian will take part in the 65th March Music Days International Festival in 2026.
In his current tour, “Intruso,” the iconic and charismatic violinist invites audiences into a musical world inspired by the stories of his childhood, his diverse cultural identity, and impressions from his personal life. The upcoming repertoire includes both classical and original compositions that transcend the boundaries of classical music.
Once again, the musician’s unique style brings together traditional melodies from different cultures and classical works, performed with his trademark passion and virtuosity.
“This tour is the result of watching my son grow up. It is also the result of my own personal growth while caring for him. These are all the sounds and melodies that try to shape what I have felt and what has inspired me while we spent time together. It is an encounter with the child I could not be and the one I would have dreamed of being. It is a tribute to those beings—children—who are as free as a bird.”
About the artist
Ara Malikian is a virtuoso violinist of Lebanese origin with Armenian roots, who has made music both his refuge and his compass in life. Born in Beirut in 1968, his childhood was marked by the Lebanese Civil War, which led him to seek solace in melody while practicing in basements and bomb shelters. Despite these hardships, his innate talent carried him onto the world’s major stages.
At just 12 years old, Ara Malikian gave his first major concert, astonishing audiences with his virtuosity. At 14, his destiny took an unexpected turn when conductor Hans Herbert-Jöris, captivated by his talent, secured him a scholarship from the German government to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover.
Ara Malikian’s career has developed at a rapid pace. At the age of 15, he recorded his first album in Spain, and since then he has collaborated with renowned artists on stages such as the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Luna Park in Argentina, among others. His distinctive style—blending diverse musical genres with unmistakable sensitivity—has made him one of the most acclaimed violinists on the international scene.
