Ara Malikian, a virtuoso violinist of Lebanese origin and Armenian descent, has made music his refuge and his life’s compass. Born in Beirut in 1968, the Lebanese Civil War marked his childhood, forcing him to seek refuge in melody while studying in basements and bomb shelters. Despite the adversities, his innate talent shone brightly, captivating everyone around him.
At just 12 years old, Ara Malikian gave his first major concert, stunning the audience with his virtuosity. At 14, his destiny took an unexpected turn when conductor Hans Herbert-Jöris, captivated by his talent, awarded him a scholarship from the German government to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. He later honed his skills at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where he received tutelage from some of the world’s most renowned maestros. Ara Malikian’s career has seen a meteoric rise.
At 15, he recorded his first album in Spain, and since then, he has collaborated with renowned artists on stages such as the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Luna Park in Argentina, among others. His unique style, which fuses diverse musical genres with a unique sensibility, has made him one of the most acclaimed violinists internationally
In recent years, Ara Malikian has captivated audiences with his world tours. The “15” tour, one of the most epic of its time, captivated more than 175,000 spectators in 150 concerts. With his album “The Incredible History of Violin,” he embarked on a tour that took him to the world’s most important capitals, performing in the most prestigious auditoriums and theaters, from London and Paris to Rome, Moscow, Buenos Aires and Mexico City.
In 2019, Ara Malikian released his album “Royal Garage” and embarked on the “Royal Garage World Tour,” featuring exceptional collaborations with artists such as Andrés Calamaro, Enrique Bunbury, and Serj Tankian. More recently, the “Petit Garage” tour, born in the context of the pandemic, took him around the world with an intimate and personal piano and violin performance, creating a moving atmosphere that deeply connected with the audience.
Ara Malikian is currently immersed in his new world tour, “The Ara Malikian World Tour”, a musical journey through his life, experiences, and the magic that lies within childhood.
