"Prof. Vasil Arnaudov" Mixed Choir – Ruse

Founded in 1993, Choir Prof. Vasil Arnaudov - Ruse invariably fulfills its mission to preserve and develop the choral tradition created by the great Bulgarian conductor and pedagogue Prof. Vasil Arnaudov. The well renowned Bulgarian choir conductor Dragomir Yosifov has been the artistic director of the choir since its founding until 2015.

Since its inception, the ensemble has participated in a number of major international festivals in Bulgaria and abroad - in all editions of the March Music Days in Ruse after 1993; Varna Summer (1994); Days of British Culture in Bulgaria (1996); Days of Bulgarian Culture in Bucharest (1996); Easter Festival (Plovdiv, 1998); Salon of Arts (Sofia, 1999), Ohrid Summer International Festival (2000), International Music Festival New Music (2002), MMF Sofia Music Weeks (2010).

In 1998 the choir Prof. Vasil Arnaudov - Ruse won two gold medals and the Grand Prize of the Third International Choir Competition in Polheim, Germany, and in 2002 - First Prize at the International Choir Competition Dragan Shuplevski - Skopje, Macedonia. In 2004 the choir won the award for the most expressive performance and unusual interpretation, as well as the Grand Prize of the choir competition in Nis, Yugoslavia.

In 1999 the female ensemble realized for BNR a recording of the cantata Happy Music by Stefan Dragostinov. The same composition was released as a multimedia product - CD, together with the Japanese graphic artist Susumu Endo.

Since December 2008 Choir Prof. V. Arnaudov, together with the Munich Philharmonic Choir participates in the performance of a number of works under the direction of Zubin Meta, Lorin Maazel, Ivan Fischer, Valeri Gergiev. The choir tours successfully in Germany, Romania, Spain, Macedonia, France, Austria, and others. He has records for Bulgarian National Television, Bulgarian National Radio, Hessische Rundfunk and BBC - London.

From the 2015/16 season, the conductor of the choir is Svilen Dimitrov. Other significant works in the repertoire of people are Orpheus and Eurydice of Kr. W. Gluck, Gloria by A. Vivaldi, Magnificat by John Ruther. For two years in a row, the choir is a partner of the master class in choral conducting at the Allegra International Summer Academy and Festival.

In 2024, the choir will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special program within the "March Music Days".
