Нadezhda Vlaeva, piano

Nadezhda Vlaeva was born in Sofia and started playing the piano at the age of five. He received his musical education in Sofia, Amsterdam and New York. At the age of 15, he won First Prize at the Liszt Competition for Young Pianists in Lucca, Italy. She is a laureate of international awards and has performed in Europe, North America and Asia, including on the world stages of Carnegie Zankel Hall, Rose Hall at Lincoln Center in New York, Oriental Arts Center in Shanghai and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Her astonishing musicality, poetic nature and electrifying virtuosity have been recognized by many world-renowned musicians. Lazar Berman calls her talent a gift from God; Maestro Hans Graf noted that her musicality and depth of interpretation were astonishing, and Arnold Steinhardt of the Guarneri String Quartet praised her as "one of those performers of exceptional ability that we dream of but rarely meet."

She was awarded the Musician of the Year 2021 award by the Bulgarian National Radio. Nadezhda Vlaeva is an artist on the British record label Hyperion Records and is the first to record the complete collection of Bach/Saint-Saëns piano transcriptions (dubbed by BBC Music Magazine a "positively stunning" CD of the month). The first work on the disc inspired the award-winning short film Overture, presented at the Lincoln Center Film Festival in New York. Her CD of music by Liszt won the Grand Prix Liszt du Disque, and her CD Piano Music of Sergei Brotkiewicz was named "absolutely first class" recording of the year - Musicweb Ranking of the Year. Her disc Treasury of Russian Romantic Piano won critical acclaim as "truly inspired", "exquisite" and "stunning" and a collection of "unfailingly appealing musical performances". Her latest disc contains recordings of pieces - world premieres - by the noted Bulgarian composer Pancho Vladigerov. The CD was named "Critics' Choice" by International Piano Magazine and "Editor's Choice" and one of the best albums of 2021 by Gramophone Magazine.

In addition to her seven internationally acclaimed solo CDs, Nadezhda Vlaeva is the soundtrack artist for the documentary In Search of Cézanne, produced by Oscar winner Alan Miller. At the EG Conference in the US, which brings together intellectuals, scientists and talents from all over the world, she presented both alone and together with BBC Planet Earth and violinist Joshua Bell. And the American composer Lowell Lieberman dedicated two of his compositions to her, which she premiered.

Vlaeva participated in a number of musical events, including the Bortkevich Festival and Northern Music Evenings in Ukraine, the Festival of Rarely Performed Piano Music in Khuzum, Germany, the Chopin Festival in Kosovo, the Eumelia Festival in Greece, the International Piano Festival in Portland and Houston in the USA. She is a guest performer at several universities where she conducts master classes. She has been a jury member in New York, Colorado, Hawaii, North Carolina, Winnipeg, Calgary and other North American cities.

Parallel to her performance, Nadezhda Vlaeva devotes part of her time to composing, the fruit of which are several original pieces and arrangements that are in the process of being published by the Contemporary Composers Circle publishing house in Colorado. Among her other awards are Third Prize at the Budapest International Liszt Competition and the Yamaha Award for Best Performance of Brahms. I currently split my time between Frankfurt and New York.
