Tsvetelina Vasileva, soprano

Tsvetelina Vasileva is among the leading names of the prominent Bulgarian opera artists. After graduating from the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov", the young singer successfully debuted on the stage of the National Opera in the role of Amelia from "Masked Ball". This debut showed her merits as a Verdi singer and in the following seasons she played the central roles in three other major titles of the Italian composer - Elizabeth in "Don Carlos", Desdemona in "Othello" and Leonora in "Troubadour". In the meantime, she became a laureate of the international competitions in Italy "Tito Skipa" and "Francesco Chilea". Tsvetelina Vasileva specializes in the famous tenor Carlo Bergonzi in Milan at the school of La Scala.

She made her debut with Leonora's part in "Troubadour" in a production in San Francisco, and the following season Tsvetelina Vasileva also appeared in the Russian opera repertoire in Glinka's "Ruslan and Lyudmila" and in Monteverdi's early baroque opera "The Coronation of Popeye".

The Bulgarian singer is highly praised by critics for her participation in the Wexford International Festival: "Tsvetelina Vasileva is a piercing dramatic soprano, who at that time should be the name of every opera impresario's lips next year," and the Times writes for her: "a beautiful, sword-like soprano tone akin to true musical sensitivity."

She has given concerts in most European capitals and in the most prestigious concert halls in the world - in the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam (Stravinsky's "Wedding"), at the Royal Albert Hall, London (gala concert "Night of the Stars" with Armiliato, Agnes Balza, Daniela Desi, Rosalind Plowright, J. Cilico, Jose Cura, Giuseppe Giacomini), and also in America - in Toronto at the George Weston Recital Hall "Jeanne d'Arc" by Verdi and even - on Red Square, Moscow in a grand gala concert.

Tsvetelina Vasileva works with some of the most famous conductors of our time - A. Guadanjo, M. Arena, D. Oren, B. Heitink, K. Rizzi, M. Armiliato, N. Luisotti, F. Jordan, and others.
