Oleksiy Shadrin was born in 1993 in Kharkiv to a family of musicians.
At the age of seven, he entered the Kharkiv Specialized Music School, class of Professor Olena Shchelkanovtseva. In 2010 he entered the Hanover Higher School of Music and Theater, class of Professor Leonid Gorokhov. Since 2016 he has been a student of the Cronenberg Academy, class of Professor Frans Helmerson. In 2016 and 2018, Oleksiy Shadrin actively participated in the cello master classes of the academy, where in 2016 he received a scholarship from Boris Pergamenshchikov. In 2020, he joined the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in the class of Gary Hoffman.
Oleksiy Shadrin is a finalist of the III International David Popper Competition in Hungary. In 2012 he received the First prize at the Mykola Lysenko International Music Competition in Kyiv. In 2018 he received the Third Prize at the Prague Spring Competition.
He has repeatedly performed as a soloist and in ensembles in Ukraine and abroad. The musician plays a modern instrument by German master Haiko Seifert (Plauen).
Since September 2020, he has also been an artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where he is studying under Gary Hoffman.
