Elena Rozanova, piano

Elena Rozanova was born in Odessa, Ukraine. Both her parents were musicians. She first studied at the Gnessine School and was then admitted at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Her teachers were Tatiana Zelikman, Alexei Nassedkine and Evgueni Moguilevski. She went on to win major prizes in international competitions, including  the Marguerite Long - Jacques Thibaud in Paris,  the Eduard Flipse in Rotterdam, and the Takahiro Sonoda of Fukoaka in Japan. She is a laureate of the Cziffra Foundation. She works as a soloist with many orchestras, such as the Orchestre National de France, the Royal Philarmonia of Flanders, the orchestra of the Beethovenhalle in Bonn, the Symphonic Orchestra of Novosibirsk and the Camerata of Saint Petersburg, la Camerata Ireland. She has played with directors such as Jean-Claude Casadesus, Saulus Sondeckis and Arnold Katz… She has participated in many festivals: La Roque d'Anthéron, La Folle Journée de Nantes, Île de France, Schleswig-Holstein, Carintische Sommer, Portogruaro, Ravinia… She is part of a Trio with the violinist Svetlin Roussev and the cellist François Salque. Her other partners for chamber music are amongst others Josef Silverstein, Raphael Oleg, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Dora Schwarzberg, Barry Douglas, le Quatuor Ysaÿe. 

She performs regularly in prestigious concert halls such as the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, le Théâtre de la Ville, the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, the Cité de la Musique in Moscow, the Konzerthaus in Vienna… 

In France, the recording of Elena Rozanova with violinist Graf Mourja published by Harmonia Mundi in their collection “Les Nouveaux Interprètes”, (Ravel, Schnittke, Szymanowsky) has been awarded a “Choc de la Musique” by French magazine Le Monde de la Musique. Her CD dedicated to works of Shostakovich, Ravel and Prokofiev published again by Harmonia Mundi was awarded 5 Stars by the German Magazine Fono Forum and was the object of a radio programme on Bayern 4 Klassik. The CD with violinist Svetlin Roussev dedicated to works of Vladiguerov was awarded a Diapason d’Or by Diapason Magazine, 10 of Classica/Répertoire and a “Coup de Cœur” from Piano le Magazine. Her CD for Satirino records dedicated has been acclaimed by the French and international press and chosen amongst de CDs of the month by cultural TV Channel arte.

Between 1999 and 2005 Elena Rozanova is a professor of chamber music with piano at the Hochschule in Frankfurt.

Her repertoire goes from baroque to contemporary music. She has performed many new creations.

She is artistic director of the festival “Les Classiques au Val d’Isère”.
