Bobby Kostadinov, cello

Bobby Kostadinov was born in Leipzig in 1999. He has been playing the cello since he was 7 years old. Sven Schreiber was his first cello teacher at the Leipzig Music School "Johann-Sebastian-Bach". Afterward, he was in the young talent promotion class of Anna Niebuhr. Since October 2017 Bobby studies with Professor Peter Bruns at the HMT Leipzig "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy".

Bobby Kostadinov has won a total of four federal first prizes at the "Jugend musiziert" national competition in different categories.
His duo with his sister Diana Kostadinova won the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Young Musicians Award. Furthermore, he was awarded two special prizes of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the special prize of the Hummel-Society Weimar, a prize of the Ingeborg Fahrenkamp-Schäffler Foundation, the Central German Youth Music Prize of the Holger Koppe Foundation, and an EMCY Prize.

Since September 2016, he has been a scholarship holder of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation and Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben since 2021. In the subsequent „WESPE“ competition the duo received a special prize in the category "Ostracized Music". In addition, the duo was awarded with a sponsorship prize of the Lizst Foundation Weimar.

From 2014 to 2017, Bobby Kostadinov and his ensembles won four times in a row the music competition "Music from Communities" in Saxony. He participated several times in the MDR-Clara-Tour and played 2times at the MDR summer music festival. 

From 2013 to 2018, Bobby Kostadinov played in the Leipzig Youth Symphony Orchestra and was the first solo cellist. In 2017, he played with this orchestra as soloist Antonin Dvorak's Cello Concerto at the Leipzig Gewandhaus, in Budapest, and at the Wachau festival. A highlight in March 2017 was the performance of the Triple Concerto by Beethoven with his trio and the Bergische Symphoniker.  In 2021 he wins 2nd prize from the International Allegra competition in Ruse, Bulgaria. 

As a scholarship holder of the „Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben“ Bobby plays a violoncello by Michael Stürzenhofecker, Cully 2012 from the german musical instrument fund.
