Frosch String Quartet was established in 2007 in Sofia and started its concert activity with annual participation in the Bulgarian National Radio series The Soloists of the Radio.
The quartet realizеs many Radio recordings of works by P. Vladigerov, K. Iliev, V. Kazandjiev, M. Georgiev, P. Kerkelov, Dm. Shostakovich, Fr. Schubert, H. Wolf, A. Schoenberg, A. Webern, B. Bartok. The ensemble participates in the festivals Winter Music Evenings - Ruse, Ambul - Sofia, Sound and Communication - Sofia, Sofia Music Weeks, March Music Days - Ruse, Chamber Music Days - Gabrovo, Apollonia, Ars Musica festival in Brussels, Varna Summer, Winter Music evenings Prof. Ivan Spasov - Pazardzhik.
In April 2008 the quartet received Second prize at the International Competition for Austrian Chamber Music in Sofia, and in 2008 - First prize at the Academic Chamber Music Competition dedicated to Marin Goleminov. In 2015 the quartet receivеd the Crystal Lyre Award, given by the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers.
Frosch makes a number of Bulgarian and world premieres of works by George Krum, Osvaldo Golihov, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Rumen Balozov, Alexander Radvilovich, Lubomir Denev, Vasil Kazandjiev, Georgi Arnaudov, Sunne Skouen, Petar Kerkelov, Martin Georgiev. Part of the works is specially written for the quartet.
Among the significant projects of the quartet are a concert at the Oslo Concert House, dedicated to Bulgarian and Norwegian contemporary music, as well as participation in the first edition of the Musica Nordica festival in Sofia. With the assistance of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway, the ensemble is planning a series of concerts with everything written for a string quartet by E. Grieg, the first of which has already taken place in Sofia. Frosch is also working on a recording of the integral of 4 string quartets by K. Iliev for the Bulgarian National Radio.
In 2017, Frosch has the honor of performing the opening concert of the joint program of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Moscow and the Tchaikovsky Museum, dedicated to the new Bulgarian music.
In 2018 the quartet is invited to participate with two concerts in the project of Sofia Philharmonic "Music of Europe", dedicated to the Czech Republic and Great Britain.
At the end of 2023, the quartet presented for the first time to a Korean audience in Seoul Bulgarian contemporary music for string quartet inspired by folklore - Pancho Vladigerov "Three watercolors", Marin Goleminov "Microquartet", Dobrinka Tabakova "On a Bench in the Shade", and as a world premiere - Georgi Andreev - "Shopski".
