Ruse Festival Orchestra

The Ruse Festival Orchestra is a unique project, carrying in itself the deep and lasting connections between different generations of musicians from all over the world, who made their first professional steps at the National School of Arts Prof. Veselin Stoyanov - Ruse.

Established in 2010 for the 50th anniversary of the school on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of March Music Days I.F., the  Festival Orchestra makes its first successful program within the festival with the participation of world-famous Bulgarian musicians - graduates of the school, Emil Tabakov, Svetlin Roussev, and piano duo Aglika Genova and Lyuben Dimitrov.

The second edition of the project is on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the school in 2015. The exceptional artistic quality of the concert program /Scheherazade by R. Korsakov and Beethoven's Violin Concerto/ conducted by Emil Tabakov and with the participation of one of the most successful and sought after around the world Bulgarian instrumentalist Svetlin Roussev, bring to the orchestra the high recognition of the audience and the prestigious National Award Musician of the Year in the category Music Project.

His third performance within the 57th edition of the March Music Days I.F. in 2017 (Elgar - Cello Concerto, soloist Alexander Somov, and Mendelssohn - Theatrical music A Midsummer Night's Dream with conductor Emil Tabakov) proves that the orchestra is already a tradition and something more - a sign of a strong spiritual affiliation to Ruse and the cause of the School of Arts, preserved in time and focused on the future. A tradition that predetermines the decision for his annual participation in the festival.

At the 58th edition of the MMD I.F. in 2018, the orchestra performed for the first time with two programs under the direction of Emil Tabakov and with soloists Svetlin Roussev, Evgeni Bojanov, and Saxophone quartet SIGNUM.

In 2019 it realized its first international project with two concerts conducted by Maestro Tabakov, Svetlin Roussev, and Piano Duo Aglika Genova and Lyuben Dimitrov, with the participation of musicians from the Romanian National Orchestra. On April 1, 2019, he performed the first-ever concert of the Ruse Orchestra in the famous Athenaeum Hall in Bucharest, Romania, which was a great success.

2021 will be memorable in the history of the orchestra with the participation of the world-famous opera prima Krassimira Stoyanova with "Four Last Songs" by R. Strauss and with the world premiere of the Violin concerto by Maestro Emil Tabakov, dedicated to the festival and its first performers - The Ruse Festival Orchestra and the great Bulgarian violinist Svetlin Roussev.
