Konstanyin Ilievsky

Konstantin Ilievsky continued his education at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he earned a Master’s degree in Composition under Prof. Detlev Müller-Siemens, as well as a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting under Prof. Uroš Lajovic. He also took part in prestigious conducting masterclasses in Vienna with renowned conductors and orchestras such as Bertrand de Billy with the Webern Symphonie Orchester Wien, Prof. Ralf Weikert with the Pro Arte Orchestra Vienna, and Daniel Harding with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.

In 2010, Ilievsky was a member of the jury at the international composition competition “Artistes en Herbe” in Luxembourg and became an honorary member of the international Armenian organization AGBU for outstanding musical achievements. In 2011, his book The Composer as an Interpreter of His Own Perception of the World was published by Dr. Müller Verlag. In 2012, he was nominated for the prestigious “Crystal Lyre” award and took part in the 200th anniversary season of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Wien, giving a concert at the Musikverein in Vienna with the Wiener Concert-Verein (the chamber orchestra of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra).

In 2013, he was selected as one of 20 finalists at the renowned 53rd International Young Conductors Competition in Besançon (France), performing with the Orchestre Victor Hugo Franche-Comté. From 2014 to 2020, he served as Artistic Director of the Dianopolis Chamber Orchestra (Yambol, Bulgaria). Between 2015 and 2019, he was also the director of the “Golden Diana” Music Festival in Yambol and a lecturer at the Bratislava Conservatory.

In 2016, he conducted the Sliven Symphony Orchestra (Bulgaria) and successfully debuted with the Slovak Philharmonic at the Reduta Concert Hall in Bratislava. Since 2017, he has regularly recorded with the Symphony Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio. In 2018, he was awarded the “Crystal Lyre” in the “Conductor” category for a joint project with them.

He conducted the official diplomatic concert in Bratislava celebrating Bulgaria’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with violin soloist Svetlin Roussev and the Slovak National Radio Orchestra. In early 2019, Ilievsky led the Sofia Philharmonic on its historic first concert tour of China. In the summer of the same year, he recorded a CD with the Dianopolis Chamber Orchestra. That same year, he received another “Crystal Lyre” award together with this ensemble.

Since 2020, he has been conductor of the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra (Bratislava). In 2021, he was Composer-in-Residence with the Proxima Ensemble in Bratislava. As of 2022, Konstantin Ilievsky is a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

As a guest conductor or soloist, he has worked with many renowned European orchestras, including numerous Bulgarian ensembles and the China National Symphony Orchestra (Ningbo). As a pianist, he frequently appears as a soloist with various orchestras across Europe and regularly performs in solo and chamber recitals.

As a composer, Ilievsky has written solo, chamber, concertante, and symphonic works that have been performed in various countries in Europe and the United States by prestigious contemporary music ensembles and orchestras. He has participated in numerous international festivals and collaborated with world-class soloists. His recordings have been featured by major radio and television companies in Bulgaria, Austria, and Slovakia, and he regularly records with both the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra (Bratislava) and the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra.

At the age of just 17, Konstantin Ilievsky founded Sinfonietta dell’Arte in Bratislava, where he still serves as General Music Director, Principal Conductor, and Artistic Director. The orchestra has included musicians from all continents and has established itself over the past two decades as a professional ensemble with regular and successful tours in Austria, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Germany.

A special focus of Ilievsky’s artistic work lies in his collaborations with chamber ensembles such as string orchestras and groups dedicated to contemporary or early music. Developing concert repertoire for such ensembles is a regular part of his concert calendar — for example, with the “Hilaris Chamber Orchestra” (Bratislava), the professional chamber choir “Bratislava Vocal Consort,” the chamber orchestra of Sinfonietta dell’Arte, and his contemporary music ensemble in collaboration with the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
