Frosch String Quartet will take part in the 65th edition of the International Music Festival March Music Days together with the Spanish guitarist Miguel Trápaga Sánchez, presenting popular works in an original dialogue between instruments. The musicians have prepared an intriguing selection in which the boundaries between styles are spontaneously blurred.
Founded in 2007 in Sofia, the quartet quickly established itself as one of the most prominent ensembles on the Bulgarian chamber music scene. From its early appearances in the Bulgarian National Radio concert series The Radio Soloists to performances on international stages, Frosch quartet has impressed audiences with its energy, and always bold repertoire.
Their repertoire includes works by composers such as P. Vladigerov, K. Iliev, V, Kazandzhiev, Dm. Shostakovich, F. Schubert, A. Schoenberg, and B. Bartók.
Miguel Trápaga Sánchez is a guitarist who inspires audiences and remains faithful to the spirit of the Spanish guitar tradition, a worthy ambassador of this heritage on the world’s stages.
He is the recipient of numerous national and international awards from competitions such as Andrés Segovia in Palma de Mallorca, the Great Lakes Guitar Competition in the USA, and the Guitar Foundation of America in Canada.
Trápaga has recorded for NAXOS, including Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez and the world premiere recording of Leo Brouwer’s Concierto de Benicassim.
He performs worldwide and teaches at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, inspiring a new generation of guitarists.
