Among the official guests of the event were the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and the Speaker of the National Assembly Nikola Minchev.
In his speech at the opening, the mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov said that the festival "March Music Days" is of great importance for the city and for Bulgaria. It is a cultural emblem. "These sixty-one editions bring energy to our city, which is not found anywhere else in the country. Countless Bulgarian and world artists have appeared on the Ruse stage. I am proud to be mayor of the Northern capital of Bulgaria," said in his speech Pencho Milkov. He thanked everyone, without whose help the "March Music Days" would not have taken place and wished the people of Ruse and the guests of the city unforgettable moments with classical music.
During the ceremony, the President of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Figures (SBMTD) Stanislav Pochekanski presented the longtime director of the March Music Days festival Iva Chavdarova the most prestigious award of SBMTD - "Golden Lyre" - for her outstanding contribution to the development of Bulgarian musical culture. "We are all working hard for this festival. It is our emblem and our future. Thank you for the high honor, and I wish the audience inspiring meetings with art and music," said Iva Chavdarova.
The evening continued with a concert by the Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of maestro Emil Tabakov and with the participation of the world-famous Macedonian pianist Simon Trpceski, who made his festival debut on the Bulgarian stage. The program of the evening included the famous for its rich, almost impressive, sensitivity "Four Sketches" for large orchestra by Dimitar Nenov, as well as two of the most beautiful and popular works in music literature of the early 20th century - Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major and the symphonic suite The Sea by Claude Debussy.
The beginning of the festival was accompanied by the opening of an exhibition of paintings by the artist Volodya Kenarev. It was opened by the Deputy Minister of Culture Arch. Boyko Kadinov. Nelly Piguleva talks about the famous Bulgarian painter - master of miniature, and about his inspiring art.
The March Music Days Festival will offer until March 27 this year. The music forum is organized by the Municipality of Rousse with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
