String Quartet "Philharmonic" on the stage of "March Music Days"

20.09.2021

"March Music Days" 2021 continued with a very interesting ensemble program, which the Philharmonic String Quartet offered on September 19 in partnership with one of the best Bulgarian flutists Yavor Zhelev. During the chamber concert in the Europe Hall of the Revenue Building, Mozart's rarely performed flute quartets, as well as Ravel's famous major major quartet, were performed.

On the same day, a documentary exhibition dedicated to the 115th anniversary of Dmitry Shostakovich's birth was opened in the lobby of the Revenue Building. The exhibition tells about the composer's visits to Ruse, Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna. Photographs showing his concert performances and meetings with Bulgarian composers are shown, as well as moments related to the premiere of the opera "Katerina Izmailova" in Bulgaria in 1965, presented on the stage of the Ruse Opera. A 10-minute video from 1965 was broadcast, which tells about Shostakovich's arrival in Bulgaria.

The exhibition was prepared by the State Opera - Ruse and is part of the accompanying events during the MF "March Music Days" 2021. The author's team that realized the idea are musicians and researchers of Shostakovich's work, including Ruse historian Dr. Veselina Antonova . Prof. Natasha Yapova is a scientific consultant in the systematization of the collected documents.
