On March 25, conductor Plamen Djurov and the Sofia Soloists Chamber Ensemble took us back 60 years, resurrecting the memory of the ensemble's first program with the famous Arthur Oneger Chamber Concerto and Lazar Nikolov's String Orchestra Concerto. The concert was under the motto "Classics and Modernity", and the soloists were the virtuoso Bulgarian instrumentalists Yavor Zhelev - flute and Slav Slavchev - English horn. On the festival stage, the guest soloist was also the talented Victoria Vasilenko, deservedly called by the music critics "the Bulgarian golden girl on the piano".
"Musicians turn weekdays into holidays. We try to make life more diverse and beautiful," said Maestro Djurov in an interview during the festival. Yes, the concert "Classics and Modernity" yesterday really turned the weekday Friday night into an empathetic holiday!
