Opening of the 60th MF "March Music Days" 18.09.2021
The program of the festival evening included performances of Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto, whose 115th anniversary we are celebrating this year, and Berlioz's Fantastic Symphony.
The Deputy Minister of Culture Prof. Borislava Taneva, who was among the official guests of the event, welcomed the organizers and the audience: "We have exciting meetings with new and established artists, debuting in Bulgaria young and extremely talented performers from our and the world music scene.The creative spirit, talent, professionalism and innovation will accompany and enrich us with bright examples of classical and contemporary music. "
In his speech, the mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov noted that the festival is a cultural emblem of the city, which has left a deep mark on generations of Ruse residents and musicians from the country and abroad. He thanked for the organization of the director of MF "March Music Days" Iva Chavdarova.
The beginning of the music forum was accompanied by the opening of the documentary exhibition "The Beginning", dedicated to its 60th anniversary and in memory of its founders - Prof. Sasha Popov, Iliya Temkov and Mihail Katev. The exposition presents the first 20 years of the festival's development, which began as "Musical Days of Bulgarian-German Friendship" on March 10, 1961 with the premiere of the overture "September 1923", under the baton of the author Vasil Kazandjiev. A special place was given to Dmitry Shostakovich's visit to Ruse in 1965 and the staging of the opera "Katerina Izmailova". The exhibition is a joint project of the State Archives - Ruse and the Municipality of Ruse.
